Northland High School graduate Jamie Clow is serving as a congressional intern in the Washington D.C. office of U.S. Rep. Pat Tiberi (R-Genoa Township) this summer.

Northland High School graduate Jamie Clow is serving as a congressional intern in the Washington D.C. office of U.S. Rep. Pat Tiberi (R-Genoa Township) this summer.

Clow is the son of Dawn Wentz-Clow and is a senior at The Ohio State University. He is majoring in business, with a specialization in marketing and a minor in political science.

Clow's responsibilities will include assisting with constituent correspondence, leading Ohioans on tours of the U.S. Capitol and completing various legislative-research projects.

Patrice Bowman has been awarded a Verizon Foundation scholarship for the 2011-2012 school year.

The scholarship program is open to children and dependents of Verizon employees. Recipients are selected based on financial need, academic achievement and extracurricular activities. Scholarships are renewable for three years, and have a total value of $20,000.

Bowman is a graduate of Columbus Alternative High School and plans to attend Yale University to pursue a degree in English/creative writing.

Eric T. Crabtree, son of Steve and Fran Crabtree, is this year's winner of the $500 For-Mel Woman's Club scholarship.

Crabtree is a graduate of Northland High School. For-Mel recognized Crabtree for his involvement in many community and school activities. He plans to attend The Ohio State University to study allied medical professions.

This is the 40th year the scholarship has been awarded to a graduating senior at Northland, Beechcroft, Brookhaven or DeSales high schools.

Participants in the For-Mel bridge marathon helped to provide funding for the scholarship.
