League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Columbus, public forum "Reflections on the Non-Voter," 7:15 p.m. Sept. 12 at the Clintonville Woman's Club, 3951 N. High St. Bill Cohen, former Ohio Statehouse Bureau news chief, will be featured. The forum, free and open to the public, will be preceded by a social hour at 6 p.m. with dinner to follow at 6:30 p.m. Cost of the dinner is $27, with advance reservations required. AARP Foundation Senior Community Service Employment Program assists unemployed Franklin, Delaware and Licking county workers age 55 and over with securing employment. The program offers paid work experience, specialized training, upgrading of skills and job-search assistance. Age, income and residency requirements apply. Health

Early Childhood Resource Network, Child Check developmental screenings for children ages 1 month through 5 years, 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 11 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 4456 Morse Road. The screenings cover the areas of gross motor, fine motor, speech and language and personal-social skills. A hearing screening is provided along with vision screenings for children older than age 3. Central Ohio CPR, babysitting course, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 14 at 6260 Huntley Road. This course, for teens and preteens who are caring for children, covers CPR and first aid, among many other topics. To register, call 614-562-7297.

Ask the Expert: Your Resource for Resume Writing, Interviewing, Networking-and More!, a program offered through New Directions Career Center and the Columbus Metropolitan Library, 9 to 11 a.m. Sept. 17 at the Karl Road branch of the library, 5590 Karl Road. Participants are encouraged to ask job search and career development questions. Open to the public. Private, 15-minute sessions will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Northland Free Legal Aid Clinic, 6 to 8 p.m. the second Monday of the month at Christian Assembly, 4099 Karl Road. Consultations provided in minor criminal matters, including landlord-tenant disputes, domestic disputes, civil protection orders and mediations. No appointments necessary. Enter at Door B.
