The next Northland Community Cleanup Day along East Dublin-Granville Road is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 19.
Northland Area Business Association SR-161 Task Force Chairman Dave Cooper has said this will probably be the next to last, if not the last, of the sprucing-up efforts for the year.
Volunteers are needed to help remove litter and debris from the shoulders and culverts of one of the neighborhood's major corridors. The cleanup area stretches from Interstate 71 east to Ponderosa Drive.
The litter pickup events are scheduled ahead of city mowing of the area so the trash and other debris isn't shredded.
Volunteers should meet at the Sharon Woods Center, located behind Jiffy Lube at 1800 E. Dublin-Granville Road. They will be issued bags, gloves, safety vests and tools for picking up trash. Brightly colored clothing and sturdy, waterproof shoes are recommended for safety.
The trash-collection events, which have been held for the past 15 years, are presented by the Northland Community Council's Landscaping and Beautification Committee, with support from Keep Columbus Beautiful and the NABA SR-161 Task Force.
