NABA meeting

Yost set to discuss audits, special investigation unit

State Auditor Dave Yost will be the guest speaker at the Northland Area Business Association's March 11 meeting.

The luncheon gathering is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monaco's Palace and Catering, 4555 Cleveland Ave.

Those wishing to attend should notify Marci Hasty, vice president of the organization, by Sunday, March 9. She can be reached at 614-885-4252 or via email,

Donovan O'Neil, central Ohio regional liaison for the auditor's office, had initially been scheduled to address the group.

However, NABA President Dave Cooper said last week that when Yost discovered he didn't have anything on his schedule for that day and time, he decided to fill the role himself.

The topic of his presentation, according to the announcement sent out Feb. 14 by NABA, will be "Auditor of State 101: Better Understanding of Our Mission and How We Serve the State of Ohio."

Items scheduled to be addressed include financial audits, performance audits and the special investigation unit. A question-and-answer period will follow.

Yost, a onetime reporter for The Citizen-Journal, first entered public service as Delaware County's auditor and prosecutor, according to the online biography at the state auditor's website. He was sworn in as Auditor of State on Jan. 10, 2011.

Most recently, Yost released a statewide audit of student attendance practices, which uncovered "scrubbing" of records at nine school districts, including Columbus City Schools.

Yost earned his undergraduate degree from Ohio State University and law degree from Capital University.
