Community Day planned at Brookhaven April 26

One last time.

Brookhaven High School alumni and students will have a final opportunity to walk the halls and connect with old classmates on Saturday, April 26.

Columbus City Schools Board of Education members voted unanimously March 4 to close the school, now in its 50th year, after classes conclude this summer.

However, as the announcement of the April 26 event states, "Bearcat Pride Never Dies!"

"Alumni, Students and Community Day" will begin with building tours and a pancake breakfast from 9 to 11 a.m. The cost of the all-you-can-eat breakfast is $5 for adults and $3 for children; children age 4 and younger eat for free.

An alumni basketball game, with graduates from even-numbered years taking on those from the years ending in odd numbers, will take place at noon.

Admission to the game is $2 for adults.

Those wishing to register to participate in the game may contact Tonya Robinson via email at

Proceeds will benefit current student body activities, according to the announcement.
