DeSales High School senior football player Evan Kendrick has verbally committed to play for Navy, according to Stallions coach Ryan Wiggins.

Kendrick made first-team all-district in Division III at defensive back last season after finishing with 33 tackles and four pass breakups. He also rushed for 272 yards and two touchdowns at running back.

Navy finished 10-4 last season, including losing to San Diego State 35-14 in the Poinsettia Bowl on Dec. 23. Navy beat Army for the ninth consecutive time Dec. 11 (31-17).

Illinois State, a Football Championship Subdivision school, also offered a scholarship to Kendrick.
