DeSales High School football players R.J. Ball and Charles Chandler will play collegiately for Butler and Kent State, respectively.

DeSales High School football players R.J. Ball and Charles Chandler will play collegiately for Butler and Kent State, respectively.

Chandler finished with four interceptions and 17.5 tackles at defensive back and led the Stallions with 23 catches for 609 yards (26.5 average) and five touchdowns at wide receiver. He made first-team all-district on defense.

Kent State finished 5-7 overall and third at 4-4 in the Mid-American Conference-East Division. Also on the Golden Flashes' roster last fall was 2008 DeSales graduate Justin Thompson.

Ball had 27.5 tackles, 7.5 sacks and one interception while making honorable mention all-district last fall for a Stallions team that went 7-4 and made a state-best 18th consecutive playoff appearance.

Butler finished 5-6 overall and tied Marist for sixth in the Pioneer League. Butler competes in the Championship Subdivision (FCS).
