Symone Denham (22) suffered a knee injury Feb. 11. The Michigan recruit is out for the remainder of the season.

Northland High School senior girls basketball Symone Denham is out for the season after going down with a knee injury during her team's 45-37 win over Africentric on Feb. 11.

According to coach Dean Washington, Denham will have "major reconstruction" surgery on Feb. 29 after it was determined that she had a torn anterior cruciate ligament and a medial collateral ligament injury.

Denham, who was averaging 15 points for a Vikings team that beat Briggs 92-14 on Feb. 18 to improve to 19-1, is a University of Michigan recruit and a member of the 2011 ThisWeek Super 12.

In Denham's absence, senior Raven Bryant-Williams is likely to start. Sophomore Brooklyn Peterson and freshmen Ariel Skipper and Armani Skipper also should see increased playing time, Washington said.
