Donation to Newsies could garner 'Monster Jam' ticket

Advance Auto Parts "Monster Jam" and Charity Newsies will hold the Monster Jam Winter Accessories Drive for local children Saturday, Dec. 1.

The event, at the Charity Newsies headquarters, 4300 Indianola Ave., will run from 10 a.m. to noon in conjunction with the Columbus Winter Farmers' Market.

A ticket for the Monster Jam show at Nationwide Arena Friday, Jan. 4, will be given for a donation of new, children's winter mittens, gloves, hats and scarves.

A total of 300 Monster Jam tickets will be distributed, with a limit of two per family.

"Charity Newsies has provided clothing for more than a half-million central Ohio children since we began in 1907," said Chuck Rundio IV, Charity Newsies drive chairman.

"With cold weather season approaching, it will be great to provide kids in need with an extra pair of gloves or hat."

The winter accessories drive occurs a week before Charity Newsies' annual newspaper drive when hundreds of member volunteers hit the streets of Columbus to raise money to help clothe children in central Ohio.

Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam, produced by Feld Motor Sports, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 4 and 5. A 2 p.m. show is also planned for Jan. 5.
