Trash boxes for events available at no charge

Officials with Keep Columbus Beautiful have formed a partnership with executives from The Andersons storesto conduct a "litter-free event program."

Free cardboard trash boxes with lids are available from the store's two locations and the headquarters of the anti-litter program for block parties, outdoor weddings, family reunions and small festivals, according to Keep Columbus Beautiful spokeswoman Sherri L. Palmer.

"The boxes are easy to assemble and will hold a standard 30-gallon trash bag liner," according to the announcement.

The liners are not provided with the trash boxes.

The event boxes can be picked up at three locations:

* Keep Columbus Beautiful Visitor and Supply Center, 1264 Marion Road.

* The Andersons Brice General Store, 5800 Alshire Drive.

* The Andersons Sawmill Store, 7000 Bent Tree Blvd.

The litter-free event trash boxes and recycling lids are available by completing an online request form at www.keepcolumbusbeautiful.org or faxing a request to 614-645-7747. Request forms are also available at either of The Andersons retail locations.

Day, time and location for picking up the boxes must be specified on the forms.

"Event sponsors/organizers are responsible for proper disposal of all collected trash or recyclables and the removal of litter-free boxes from the event site," according to Palmer's announcement.
