The Columbus Recreation and Parks Department will host the annual "Creatures of the Night" event from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Indian Village Outdoor Education Center on the west bank of Griggs Reservoir.

The Columbus Recreation and Parks Department will host the annual "Creatures of the Night" event from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Indian Village Outdoor Education Center on the west bank of Griggs Reservoir.

During a guided, luminary-lit hike, visitors will meet native nocturnal animals. Guests can finish the evening with cocoa and stories by the campfire.

The hikes begin every 15 minutes from the Indian Village lodge, with the last walk leaving at 8:30 p.m. The event is geared for children ages 9 and under. Participants are advised to dress for the weather and to wear sturdy hiking shoes.
