Olentangy Liberty boys track and field coach Keith Conkling stepped down after five years leading the program.

After five years as coach of the Olentangy Liberty High School boys track and field team, Keith Conkling has decided to step down so he can pursue a master's degree in administration.

"I've given it a great deal of thought and I believe this is the best decision for my family and I," he said. "The past five years have been a positive learning experience for me. I have greatly enjoyed working with (the team)."

During Conkling's tenure, 2007 graduate Michael Uhle became the program's first state champion, winning the pole vault at the Division I state meet as a senior. Last season, Liberty was second in the OCC-Capital Division and fifth at district.
