The Northwest Civic Association on Wednesday will discuss the roundabout proposed for Olentangy River Road.

The Franklin County Engineer's Office will make a presentation on the traffic device from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Meadow Park Church of God, 2425 Bethel Road.

NWCA officials have neither endorsed nor opposed the installation of the roundabout, which would be placed at the intersection of Olentangy River and Linworth roads.

Jennifer Adair, president of the civic association, said she hopes to see final plans for the roundabout, estimated to cost about $2-million.

After several public meetings, it's become clear that the community doesn't support the single-lane roundabout, Adair said. Engineers said a fix is needed because of high accident rates at the intersection. Many residents have said they believe a traffic signal or stop sign would be more effective than the roundabout. Adair said she hopes the county respects the wishes of the neighborhood.

"I personally haven't been told of anyone who has supported this," she said.

The NWCA will formally vote on the roundabout at its next monthly meeting, to be held at 7 p.m. May 6 at the Meadow Park Church of God.
