The community recycling dropoff bin previously serving Shawnee Hills has been permanently relocated to the Olentangy Liberty High School grounds.

The community recycling dropoff bin previously serving Shawnee Hills has been permanently relocated to the Olentangy Liberty High School grounds.

A press release from Keep Delaware County Beautiful and the Delaware-Knox-Marion-Morrow Solid Waste District (DKMM) said the bin was moved in response to chronic illegal dumping, misuse, and concerns voiced by Shawnee Hills village leaders.

A sign has been erected at the former bin site directing recyclers to the present location three miles away at 3584 Home Road.

Keep Delaware County Beautiful Coordinator Jenifer Way-Young said the Shawnee Hills site was the scene of littering and illegal dumping. Some unrecyclable materials left in the bin caused entire truckloads to be landfilled instead of recycled.
