Plans for a roundabout at the intersection of Olentangy River and Linworth roads are on hold indefinitely.

The Franklin County engineer's office announced Monday that it would conduct a new safety study to determine if the fix is necessary.

Officials with the Federal Highway Administration's Safety Review Team have been asked to perform an independent safety review of the intersection and determine what they believe would be the best options for an improvement. The review should be complete later this year, at no cost to Franklin County.

Because the number of accidents has declined over the past six months, officials wanted to re-evaluate the intersection to make the most appropriate improvement possible, county engineer Dean Ringle said.
