The 2009 "Cruize-In & Pig-Out!" will hit the Powell streets at 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 16 in Powell's downtown area, near the "four corners" intersection of Liberty and Olentangy streets.

The downtown streets and parking lots will be filled with more than 140 street rods and collectable cars, boats and a pulling tractor, said Larry Coolidge, event organizer.

All profits from the event are divided among a number of local nonprofit organizations: the Powell-Liberty Historical Society, the Justice League of Ohio, and the Sertoma, Rotary and Kiwanis clubs of Powell, he said.

"It's an opportunity to enjoy downtown Powell and to see a wide variety of cars," said Coolidge. "There are absolutely beautiful, collectable, antique cars and antique internal combustion engines to view throughout the day."

Coolidge said the first tractor that was used in tractor pulling, 1954 Massey Harris tractor, is scheduled to make an appearance.

Starting at noon, a DJ will entertain the crowd. Pulled pork and chicken sandwiches and roasted corn from City Barbeque will be for sale. The Powell-Liberty Historical Society will sell ice cream from Graeter's.

A 50-50 raffle drawing will be held at 5 p.m. The car entry fee is $10. More than 60 trophies will be awarded including Mayor's Choice, Police Officers' Choice and Firefighters' Choice.

Ten cars will receive awards of excellence, with one car Best of Show. Dash plaques will be given to the first 125 vehicles.

Judging of the vehicles will begin at noon. Trophy presentations will begin around 4 p.m.

The event is "great family fun, food and enjoying downtown Powell," while also helping local organizations, Coolidge said.

All makes and models of cars are welcome to enter the car show, Coolidge said. "We're open to all internal combustion engines."
