Lewis Center resident Linda O'Brien will be inducted into the Westfield State College athletics Hall of Fame on Oct. 23. O'Brien was four-time all-conference performer in cross country and track from 1988-92. She qualified to the 1992 NCAA indoor and outdoor national championships in the 800 meters, earned all-New England honors six times and was a four-event winner at the inaugural Massachuesetts State College Athletics Conference outdoor championships in 1991. O'Brien holds program records in the 600 meters, the 1,000 meters and the 1,000 yards, and previously held the record in the 800 meters.

The Capital softball team and coach Nan Payne will play host to a fastpitch softball league for girls grades 8-12.
