An electrical pole caught fire and fell across U.S. 23 in southern Delaware County on Monday afternoon, closing a stretch of the highway for about 45 minutes.

Both the northbound and southbound lanes of U.S. 23 were closed at its intersection with Home Road, near Lewis Center, from about 2 to 2:45 p.m., said Ohio Department of Transportation District 6 spokesman Brian Hedge.

Hedge said the cause of the fire is unknown, but he did not believe it to be traffic related.
