Delaware County commissioners on Dec. 30 began handling a request to annex the Market at Liberty Crossing into Powell.

Delaware County commissioners on Dec. 30 began handling a request to annex the Market at Liberty Crossing into Powell.

Commissioners acknowledged receiving an annexation petition from attorney Eugene Hollins, acting for property owner Todd Wyett of Southfield, Mich. Hollins also serves as Powell city attorney.

The 26.3-acre development is on the northwest corner of the Powell Road and Sawmill Parkway intersection.

Powell has until Jan. 18 to provide the commissioners with a resolution describing the services the city will provide to the property, said David Cannon, county administrator.

Powell and Liberty Township have a cooperative economic development agreement that prohibits the township from objecting to Powell annexing property south of Home Road.

Cannon the CEDA "does not impact how the county commissioners have to process the annexation according to Ohio Revised Code." As a result, the county said Liberty has until Jan. 25 to file any objection.

Representatives from Powell and Liberty Township could not be reached by press time.
