The 18th annual "Cruise-in and Pig-out" will be held in downtown Powell on Sunday, Aug. 15.

The 18th annual "Cruise-in and Pig-out" will be held in downtown Powell on Sunday, Aug. 15.

Registration of participating cars will begin at 10 a.m. and music will begin at noon

More than 150 collectible cars, street rods and boats will fill downtown streets and parking lots.

Music, a disc jockey, food from downtown restaurants and ice cream sold by the Powell-Liberty Historical Society will add to the fun. Downtown antique and gift shops will be open.

One hundred percent of the show's profits will be divided among the historical society, the Justice League of Ohio, and the Sertoma, Rotary and Kiwanis clubs of Powell.

More than 60 trophies will be awarded, including Best of Show. The first 125 vehicles will receive dash plaques.

Judging starts at noon, and trophies will be awarded beginning at about 4 p.m. The 50/50 drawing will be at 5 p.m.

The Wilshire 5K Run/Walk and Kids Run is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 21. Registration opens at 8 a.m. The kids run will begin at 8:30 a.m. The 5K run/walk will begin at 9 a.m.

Parking is available Olentangy Orange Middle School, 2680 Orange Road. The race will start at the green space near the school. A pedestrian path leads from the parking lot to the green space.

Registration through Wednesday, Aug. 18 is $15 per person. Registration the day of the event is $20. Registration is available at www.ohiorunning.com. There also is a $10 discount for Wilshire residents who register prior to Saturday, Aug. 7. All paid participants will get a T-shirt and race packet.

The race is measured five kilometers and will include chip timing, snacks, water stops and awards for the top-three men and women, and overall runner. Also planned are awards for the top three girls and boys in the roughly half-mile kids run, as well as ribbons for all kids run participants.
