Dean Blackstone of Powell, an adjunct instructor in Franklin University's MBA program, received the Robert L. Bailey Teaching Award Sept. 19 during Franklin's 135th commencement ceremony.

Dean Blackstone of Powell, an adjunct instructor in Franklin University's MBA program, received the Robert L. Bailey Teaching Award Sept. 19 during Franklin's 135th commencement ceremony.

Blackstone began by teaching Global Business Management after a corporate career of international project management assignments, including a two-year expatriate assignment in the Republic of Ireland.

In the years that ensued, Blackstone formed two small businesses and helped start a third while continuing to teach. He currently maintains ownership of one of his small businesses and is employed by The Basement Doctor in a sales/project management position.

The Robert L. Bailey Teaching Award is determined each trimester by Franklin's graduating class. Bailey, retired CEO and chairman of State Auto Insurance Companies, is a past chairman of Franklin's board of trustees.

Peter Clark of Powell was named a semifinalist in the National Merit Scholarship Competition.

He is a student at Bishop Watterson High School, and the son of Timothy and Denise Clarke.

Clark plans to major in psychology at Auburn University. He is a member of St. Joan of Arc Parish.
