Powell City Council member Don Grubbs introduced a resolution to "reject the disbanding of the city of Powell police department and its assimilation by the Delaware County Sheriff's office."

Grubbs resolution is slated to be on council's March 1 agenda. Grubbs sent the resolution to fellow council members before their Feb. 15 meeting, but not in time for it to get on the agenda.

Individual council members have the right to submit resolutions for council's consideration, but the document must be received the Thursday prior to council's Tuesday meetings to make it into the official council packet and agenda.

Mayor Art Schultz referred council members to the city's "Council Rules" which provides the details for such procedures.

The resolution references Council member Sara Marie Brenner's Feb. 8 presentation in which consolidating the police department was mentioned as one of a number of ways city services could consolidate or privatized.
