Olentangy Local Schools has been named to the College Board's AP Achievement List for making Advanced Placement classes available to more students while improving the percentage of students who score well on the AP exam.

Olentangy Local Schools has been named to the College Board's AP Achievement List for making Advanced Placement classes available to more students while improving the percentage of students who score well on the AP exam.

Olentangy is among just 388 school districts in the nation to receive the honor.

Between 2008 and 2010, Olentangy increased the number of students taking AP classes from 701 to 1,087.

During the same time span, the percentage of students who earned a 3 or higher on the AP test increased from 65 to 73 percent.

Matthew Xin, a seventh-grade student at The Wellington School, is an Ohio Geographic Bee semifinalist.

The contest, sponsored by National Geographic, is for students in the fourth- through eighth-grades.

He is among 100 students whose qualifying test score allowed them to advance to the state bee, to be held April 1.
