The Liberty Township Fire Department is the recipient of a $9,538.34 grant from the Aladdin Shrine Hospital Association for Children.

The non-matching grant will fund the purchase of five "Broselow Bags," pediatric-specific kits that carry medical supplies and drugs for children.

The bags are designed according to a color code system, with color-coded "pre-loaded" pouches containing everything necessary to treat young patients. The color-coded system follows a standard established by Nationwide Children's Hospital. The bags should be in service by the end of the month, according to a news release from the fire department.

The grant also will pay for new electronic thermometers for each of the EMS vehicles.
