Ohio House 67th District

Two Republican candidates are vying for the 67th Ohio House District seat. A large portion of Delaware County makes up that district. Prior to pending redistricting changes recently adopted by the General Assembly, all of Delaware Country was the 2nd District.

Andrew Brenner of Powell is in the second year of his first term in the House.

Craig Schweitzer of Powell is challenging Brenner for the party nomination. The winner will run again in November election against unchallenged Democratic candidate David Hogan of Delaware.

Ohio House 68th District

The 68th Ohio House District seat has both Democratic and Republican primary races. A portion of the east side of Delaware County is part of the district.

Candidates John T. Ryerson of Gambier and Bradley Duane Schaaf of Utica are vying for the Democratic nomination.

On the Republican ticket, candidates Jeff Furr of Utica and Jason Rogers of Centerburg are challenging Margaret Ann Ruhl of Mount Vernon, who is serving the second year of her second term in the House.

The winners of each party primary will face off in November.

Delaware County commissioners

Three candidates are vying for the Republican ticket for the county commissioner seat commencing Jan. 2, 2013. They are Joe Garrett, Gary Merrell, and incumbent Tommy W. Thompson. All three are from Delaware.

In November, the winner will run against Democratic candidate John K. Hartman of Powell.

Two candidates are vying for the Republican ticket for the commissioner seat commencing Jan. 3, 2013. They are Al Myers and incumbent Ken O'Brien. Both are from Delaware.

The winner will run against write-in Democratic candidate Richard Bird.

These Delaware County races are unopposed: Everett H. Krueger for county common pleas judge, Mark A. Hickman for county coroner, Chris Bauserman for county engineer, Carol O'Brien for county prosecuting attorney, Jon Peterson for county treasurer and Walter L. Davis III for sheriff. All are Republicans.

November will include a contested race for county recorder. Republican incumbent Melissa Jordan is being challenged by Democratic candidate Rick Beer.
