Roasted marshmallows and Ohio State University football are the highlights at Powell's annual Community Bonfire, set for Saturday, Oct. 13.
Now in its 16th year, the fall celebration starts at 7 p.m. at Village Green Park, adjacent to the Powell Municipal Building, 47 Hall St.
In addition to fire and food, football fans can sit back and watch the Ohio State vs. Indiana football game on a huge projection screen set up on the amphitheater stage. Kickoff is at 8 p.m.
Fans can watch the game from the picnic shelter that overlooks the stage or bring blankets or chairs to watch from the hill.
Officials will get a fire going in the park's large fire pit, and hot dogs and marshmallows will be free and ready for roasting. Residents can bring their own chocolate and graham crackers for s'mores.
"It's a great event for families," said Police Clerk Patti Mills. "You can come enjoy the fire and eat for free."
City Barbeque will sell ribs and wings during the bonfire.
Beer and wine also will be available for purchase for the first time this year.
The event is sponsored by the Powell Police Department, Liberty Township Fire Department and the Powell Sertoma Club.
