Reports that the stretch of state Route 315 between Powell and Home roads will close for 21 days this fall are inaccurate, according to Ohio Department of Transportation officials.
The project will not go forward until sometime in 2014 at the earliest, ODOT spokeswoman Nancy Burton said. No firm date for the project has been set.
At the Oct. 15 meeting of the Liberty Township Board of Trustees, Township Administrator Dave Anderson said a date had not been set but added the work could begin "within the next two weeks." This week, Anderson said the statement was incorrect.
When the project moves forward, ODOT plans to close off a 2.7-mile stretch of road for the replacement of an aging box culvert, a concrete structure that allows water to flow under the roadway at Lick Run.
U.S. Route 23 will serve as the primary detour for the route during construction.
Combined northbound and southbound traffic through the construction corridor totals about 5,800 vehicles each day.
