Jewelry cache worth $26,500 taken from home

A Powell resident told police a large quantity of jewelry with a total value $26,500 was stolen between July 19 and Nov. 27 from her residence in the 200 block of Bear Woods Drive.

Stolen items include two emerald rings, an opal ring, emerald earrings, a gold bracelet, a gold ring, jade earrings and a jewelry box containing various other pieces of jewelry, according to Powell police reports.

Two suspects were detained after a license-plate reader detected they were driving a stolen van at 11:05 a.m. Nov. 19 in the 9600 block of Sawmill Road, police said.

After the pursuing officer verified the van was reported stolen, the suspects parked at a gas station, where they were detained, according to reports.

It was discovered the van was rented from an Orlando, Fla.-based company that had reported it stolen after it was not returned on time.

But conflicting information indicated an employee may have given the suspects permission to keep the van for an extended period of time, the report stated.

The suspects were released without charges and the van was impounded.

A hammock worth $175 was stolen between Nov. 22 and 24 from the yard of a residence in the 3400 block of Village Club Drive, police said.

A total of $160 in cash was stolen between 1:30 and 2:45 p.m. Nov. 21 from a residence in the 300 block of Shyanne Drive, police said.

A housekeeper reported the cash was stolen by workers who made a home delivery at the residence, according to reports.

A GPS device worth $150 was stolen between midnight and 8:45 a.m. Oct. 3 from a vehicle parked outside of a residence in the 200 block of Donerail Avenue, police said.

Delaware County

Two pistols, together worth $2,250, were stolen between 8 p.m. Nov. 17 and 10 a.m. Nov. 18 from a residence in the 6200 block of Buckman Street in Lewis Center, according to Delaware County Sheriff's reports.

An MP3 player worth $250 was stolen between 10 p.m. Nov. 19 and 11:45 a.m. Nov. 20 from a car parked outside a residence in the 7800 block of Royal Park Drive in Lewis Center, reports said.

A GPS device worth $200 was stolen between 9 p.m. Nov. 19 and 7:34 a.m. Nov. 20 from a car parked outside a residence in the 1800 block of Primrose Avenue in Lewis Center, according to reports.

A wallet worth $200 was stolen between 10 p.m. Nov. 19 and 2:30 p.m. Nov. 20 from a residence in the 7700 block of Holderman Street, reports said.
