Gunman shoots up office, causes $50,000 damage

Delaware County Sheriff's Office detectives are trying to figure out who broke into a Powell business and fired at least 18 rounds of ammunition last week.

Damages are estimated at more than $50,000 after someone broke into Advocate Radiology Billing, 10567 Sawmill Parkway, between 4 and 4:30 a.m. Jan. 4 and opened fire, reports said.

No employees were present at the time of the incident, reports said. An employee arrived at the business later that day to find shattered glass, damaged drywall and destroyed computers.

Investigators said they believed the office was targeted. No items were reported stolen.

"It's definitely a nondescript building, so the average person driving by isn't going to realize that it is there, and nothing was taken, so it seems very personal," said Kevin Ullom, a sheriff's office detective.

Ullom said he believes someone knows something about the crime because of the personal nature of the incident.

"Somebody didn't do this without some aggression, so either they've shared that with someone, or someone has been made aware of that, seen or heard that," he said.

Detectives said they are interviewing people in connection with the crime but have asked the public to come forward.

Anyone with information about the crime should call the Delaware County Sheriff's Office at 740-833-2800.
