The Rev. Norman Edward Dewire of Powell has been named to the Ohio University Foundation Board.
Foundation Board trustees are chosen based on their strong ties to OU, a demonstrated ability to give and raise funds for the university and their commitment to the university through involvement with a school, campus or program.
Dewire earned a bachelor’s degree in education from OU in 1958, subsequently receiving a Master of Divinity from Boston University, an honorary doctoral degree from Adrian College and a Doctor of Ministry degree from McCormick Theological Seminary. He is president emeritus for the Methodist Theological School in Ohio in Delaware.
He is also a previous recipient of the Public Service Award for Civil Rights from the United States Department of Justice and the U.S. Attorney General. He has served as a member of the Ohio University Board of Trustees and currently serves on the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine’s Advisory Board.
