The Greater Powell Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Community Electronics Recycling fundraiser, document shredding and Habitat for Humanity collection from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 4.
Individuals and businesses can drop off unwanted and/or broken electronics for recycling or refurbishing, unwanted documents and gently used building supplies at 47 Hall St., Powell.
Donations collected will benefit the High School Career Passport Program, the Delaware County Junior Fair awards and other programs. A $20 disposal fee is required for televisions, which contain unsafe materials and require special handling.
Electronics will be handled by Accurate IT, a company certified in responsible recycling practices. Accurate IT has a guaranteed data destruction policy and a goal of zero electronics to landfills. The collection will accept anything that plugs in or charges up except for items containing Freon. For a list of acceptable items, visit biggreenhead.com.
The next collection in Powell will be Saturday, Sept. 14.
