An autopsy was performed Monday, June 24, on a man who drowned at Alum Creek State Park over the weekend.
Around 6:45 p.m. Sunday, June 23, Delaware County Sheriff's deputies responded to the beach at Alum Creek in Lewis Center and administered CPR to a man who was unresponsive when pulled out of the water by a fellow swimmer, reports said.
According to preliminary reports from the sheriff's office, Robert K. McCoy Jr., 44, of Cincinnati did not respond to CPR and was shocked with a defibrillator before being taken to the Westerville Medical Campus on Polaris Parkway, where he was pronounced dead.
McCoy was at the beach with his fiancee and her two children, sheriff's reports said.
The swimmer who pulled McCoy from the water told local media outlets that he felt McCoy under the water multiple times and asked for help in pulling him out, but wasn't taken seriously by those around him. Eventually, the witness pulled McCoy out of the water and 911 calls were made, reports said.
