Archery wizard stops by Cabela's Aug. 10, 11

Shooting a flying aspirin tablet with an arrow would seem difficult enough. Frank Addington Jr. does it holding the bow behind his back.

Addington will perform his famous trick and others Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 10 and 11, when his Bow & Arrow Razzle Dazzle tour stops at Cabela's, 1650 Gemini Place.

The West Virginia native who's been nicknamed the Aspirin Buster has been touring the country for nearly a decade, performing at rodeos, sports shows, festivals and private parties.

His shows feature nontraditional targets, such as the aspirin tablet, and he can shoot multiple arrows to hit multiple targets all at once.

Addington will make appearances at the store at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Aug. 10 and at noon and 2 p.m. Aug. 11.

"Cabela's is excited to bring this one-of-a-kind show to Columbus, given that archery continues to grow in popularity," Cabela's general manager Jim Daugherty said in a prepared release.

The outdoors superstore typically hosts events every weekend. At the Fall Great Outdoor Days, which will take place Aug. 17 and 18, anyone who wants to shoot like Addington someday can take an archery lesson hosted by the Department of National Resources Division of Wildlife from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

Other workshops throughout the weekend will include coyote-hunting basics, setting up an outdoor kitchen and smoking meat. Free knife sharpening also will be offered.
