The Olentangy Education Foundation's first fundraising event of the school year is set to tee off Monday, Sept. 23 at the Lakes Golf and Country Club.
Golfers can try their hand at 18 holes on the private course during OEF's 14th annual golf outing, which will begin with lunch and registration at 11 a.m.
A shotgun start will begin the outing at 12:30 p.m. Gifts will be distributed and beverages available to golfers on the course as they make their way back to the club for an evening reception. PGA Tour golfer Chris Perry will be on the course to take shots with each team.
Heavy hors d'oeuvres and a silent auction will cap off the day along with awards for the top three teams, the last team and golfers who were closest to the pin, had the longest drive and made the longest putt.
The golf outing is one of the largest fundraisers of the year for the foundation that supports extras in the district through teacher grants and student scholarships.
In 2013, the foundation has already awarded more than $50,000 to such causes. Since its inception in 2001, more than $500,000 has been given to students and teachers who need funding for projects that can't be supported by district's tight budget.
The cost per player is $250 while foursomes plus corporate sponsorship come at a cost of $1,000 to $10,000. Families and businesses can also sponsor holes for $150 each.
The deadline to register for the outing or to become a sponsor is Wednesday, Sept. 18.
