Students at Tyler Run Elementary will participate in the seventh annual Walk-A-Thon and Fall Festival to raise money for their school on Friday, Oct. 4.
The event kicks off with a town meeting at 9:15 a.m. After the meeting, the entire student body, along with teachers and many parents, will take a one-mile walk around the surrounding neighborhood.
Community members are invited to attend the free fall festival from 5 to 8 p.m. on school grounds at 580 Salisbury Drive.
This is the school's major fundraiser for the year. Students are encouraged to ask friends and family for pledge money. Students can also bring new or gently used children's and adults' shoes, which will be donated to the Common Ground Free Store in Delaware.
Highlights of the festival include food, games, a cake walk, a silent auction and inflatable attractions. Tickets will be sold to the public in the lobby for 25 cents each, and can be used for games, which cost two tickets each. The cost of food items will vary and may be purchased with either cash or festival tickets. The Mojo Taco truck will be on hand, along with Kona Ice. Cash is needed for these vendors.
