Anne Stockton of Powell recently became a WomenHeart Champion after graduating from the annual WomenHeart Science & Leadership Symposium at the Mayo Clinic.

Stockton, 39, is among 24 women around the country -- all heart disease survivors, from 13 states and from ages 28 to 73 -- to be selected via a nationally competitive process to attend the three-day symposium and return home as a leader to "educate, advocate and support her community," according to a news release from WomenHeart.

WomenHeart, the National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease, is the nation's leading organization representing the 42 million women living with or at risk for heart disease.
