The Winter 2014 edition of Golden Marathon, a program of Preservation Parks and Senior Citizens Inc., kicks off Jan. 6, with a one- to two-mile hike for older adults. Hikes are held nearly every Monday in various Preservation Parks preserves and other outdoor venues in central Ohio; by the end of each three-month hiking series, participants will have walked about 26.2 miles - a marathon. However, walkers can join anytime and can complete as many hikes, or as few, as they wish.

All winter hikes, January through March, are held at Polaris Fashion Place, 1500 Polaris Parkway (walkers meet in the Food Court). However, if the predicted high for each day is 40 degrees or higher, the hikes are held in the parks.

Call Saundra McBrearty at 740-524-8600, ext. 6, or visit www.preservationparks.com, and click on each Monday in the calendar, for more information.
