Powell/Lewis Center: Two pedestrians hit by cars, land in hospital

Two drivers hit pedestrians while pulling out of parking spots within 24 hours late last month in Delaware County.

A woman hit a female pedestrian while pulling out of parking spot about 9 p.m. Dec. 23 in the 600 block of Lewis Center Road in Lewis Center, according to Delaware County Sheriff's reports, The victim, who suffered a broken arm and leg, was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, reports said.

A woman hit a male pedestrian about 10:50 a.m. Dec. 24 in a parking lot in the 3900 block of Powell Road in Liberty Township, according to sheriff's reports. The victim was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital with minor injuries, reports said.

The driver of the car said she did not see the pedestrian because the sun was in her eyes, according to reports.

In other recent county sheriff's reports:

• A deputy made a routine traffic stop about 7:40 a.m. Dec. 28 on Halfway Avenue near Columbus Pike in Orange Township that resulted in a drug-trafficking charge, according to sheriff's reports. After making contact with the driver, Bryan Keaton, 43, of Indigo Way in Columbus, the deputy found about three pounds of marijuana, reports said.

The deputy also discovered Keaton was wanted on a warrant by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, according to reports.

• Deputies responded about 11:30 p.m. Dec. 27 to a report of a stabbing in the 5500 block of Windrift Drive in Liberty Township. Upon arrival, they made contact with the victim, who was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital for treatment of a stab wound to the chest, according to sheriff's reports.

Deputies then arrested Sonita M. Harrison, 43, of Windrift Drive on a charge of felonious assault, according to sheriff's reports.

• A woman reported a burglary occurred between 10 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. Dec. 23 in the 9600 block of Olentangy River Road in Liberty Township. Someone stole $12,779 worth of jewelry, according to sheriff's reports.

• A woman reported a theft that took place between Sept. 20 and Dec. 20 in the 3800 block of Oakbrook Lane in Liberty Township. Two bracelets, together worth $4,150, and $185 in cash were stolen from the property, according to sheriff's reports.

• Deputies found a business' glass door had been shattered about 3:20 a.m. Dec. 29 after responding to a general alarm in the 6400 block of Pullman Drive in Lewis Center, according to sheriff's reports. A safe valued at $200 and cellphones worth $550 were stolen, according to sheriff's reports.

• A business reported an unknown suspect used large rocks to break a glass door between 3:20 and 3:45 a.m. Dec. 29 in the first block of Neverland Drive in Lewis Center. Merchandise valued at $570 was taken from the business, according to sheriff's reports.

• A man living in the 9500 block of Gibson Drive in Liberty Township reported his credit card was stolen between 8 a.m. Dec. 25 and 6:15 p.m. Dec. 26. The credit card was used to withdraw $607 from an ATM, according to sheriff's reports.

• A woman reported a theft that occurred between 10 p.m. Dec. 19 and noon Dec. 20 in the 7700 block of Green Meadows Drive in Lewis Center. A purse, valued at $50, and prescription drugs were taken, according to sheriff's reports.

A woman living in the first block of Grace Drive reported someone stole $1,000 and a credit card from her purse between 6 and 6:15 p.m. Jan. 15.
