Powell/Lewis Center: Deputies arrest Mansfield man linked to two thefts

A Mansfield man sought by city of Delaware and Delaware County authorities for allegedly stealing electronics from local retail stores was arrested last week by Delaware County Sheriff's deputies.

Shane E. Brownfield, 41, of South Diamond Street in Mansfield, was arrested shortly after 3:30 p.m. March 24 and charged with felony theft and engaging in a pattern of corrupt behavior, according to sheriff's reports.

Brownfield allegedly stole $3,290 worth of electronics and tax preparation software between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. March 24 from a store in the 8800 block of Columbus Pike in Lewis Center, reports said.

Delaware police also were looking for Brownfield in connection with the theft of $679 worth of electronic fitness trackers from a store between 4:30 and 5:15 p.m. March 18 in the 1300 block of Sunbury Road, according to police reports. Brownfield faces a charge of petty theft in that case, reports said.

In other recent sheriff's reports:

• A man living in the 3700 block of Pine Ridge Drive in Lewis Center reported a case of identity fraud that occurred between March 18 and March 25. The man said someone made purchases and withdrew money from his bank account using his personal information, according to sheriff's reports.

He lost $1,528 through the fraud, reports said.

• A man and a woman living in the 8500 block of Gosling Way in Liberty Township reported a case of identity fraud that occurred between midnight March 17 and 4:30 p.m. March 25. The couple said someone used a fraudulent check to withdraw $5,000 from their credit union account, according to sheriff's reports.

• A man living in the 7900 block of Glenmore Drive in Concord Township reported a case of identity fraud that occurred between March 10 and March 12. The man said someone filed tax information using his Social Security number, according to sheriff's reports.

• A woman living in the 1300 block of Franklin Street in Lewis Center reported an unknown person made charges on her credit card between 5 and 5:30 p.m. March 25, according to sheriff's reports.

• A woman reported her car was broken into between 9:45 p.m. March 27 and 6:30 a.m. March 28 in the 400 block of Green Meadows Drive in Lewis Center. She said a bag valued at $35 and tax documents were stolen from the car, according to sheriff's reports.

• A woman reported her car was broken into between midnight and 5 a.m. March 28 in the 1900 block of Roundwyck Lane in Liberty Township. She said a credit card, a debit card, gift cards worth $75 and $100 cash were taken from the car, according to sheriff's reports.

• A woman reported her car was broken into between 6 and 9 p.m. March 28 near the intersection of Lewis Center Road and Woodstone Drive in Lewis Center. The woman said an unknown suspect broke her car's front passenger window and stole a purse containing three credit cards, according to sheriff's reports.

• A man living in the 300 block of Shalebrook Drive reported a case of identity fraud March 24. The man said someone filed tax information using his personal information between Feb. 1 and Feb. 28, according to police reports.
