The city of Powell will host its annual Memorial Day parade and ceremony from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, May 26, in downtown Powell.
This year's parade will feature more than 50 units and will begin on Grace Drive, moving west to North Liberty Street. Participants then travel south on Liberty Street to Olentangy Street, ending at the railroad crossing.
A ceremony will be held immediately following the parade at the Greater Powell Veterans Memorial in Village Green Park, 47 Hall St. The program will include a presentation of the colors, remarks from Mayor Jim Hrivnak and a flag retirement ceremony led by Boy Scout Troop 428.
Sgt. Alex Rozanski will serve as the keynote speaker during the ceremony. Rozanski is a human resources specialist at the Ohio National Guard and served in the U.S. Marine Corps Lima Company from 1998-2005.
