The Daily Growler, part of a recent wave of craft-beer dispensers, is opening a new location in Powell.
The latest spot will open sometime in July at 258 W. Olentangy St., in the former Bachman’s Cake Shop location, just east of Sawmill Road.
“We’re keeping our fingers crossed so we can open before July 4. That’s our goal,” owner John W. Blakely said.
The original Daily Growler, at 2,500 square feet, opened in December 2012 at 2812 Fishinger Road in Upper Arlington. The new space is 1,500 square feet but has a 25-seat patio.
Blakely said he liked the similarities between the two suburbs.
“We’ve been pretty happy with the way things have been going in Upper Arlington, with heavy traffic patterns and, not the most dense residential, but good residential,” he said. “We thought the demographics were similar between Powell and UA.”
As is the case with the Upper Arlington store, the Powell Daily Growler will feature 60 beers on tap, to be consumed on the premises or in “growlers” – 32-ounce jugs – to go. Among them are exclusive beers made with local brewers: Roller Blabe from Hoof Hearted in Morengo; Daily IPA from Actual Brewing; Blackberry Cream Ale from Wolf’s Ridge Brewing; and Seventh Son’s Stone Fort. All will be available at both locations.
