The Olentangy school board voted Wednesday, July 9, to appoint Roger M. Bartz to a vacant seat on the board.
The Orange Township resident will serve the remaining term of former board member Stacy Dunbar, who resigned her seat in mid-June before moving out of the district.
Bartz, senior client service manager at TRC Environmental Corp. in Gahanna, previously had served as president and vice president of the Olentangy Athletic Boosters.
The board voted 3-0 to appoint Bartz, with member Adam White absent from the meeting.
After Dunbar announced her resignation, the board received 41 applications from district residents willing to take her seat.
By June 27, the board narrowed the field to Bartz, David L. Celona of Berlin Township and Karen A. Clark of Orange Township.
“I was very honored to be selected (from) such a large group of finalists,” Bartz said. Board President Kevin O’Brien said the board members were impressed by Bartz’s resume. “As we debated and talked through the three candidates, it became clear that Roger had the best mix of business experience and community involvement,” he said.
Bartz said he intends to run for another term on the board after Dunbar’s term expires in December 2015.
