Olentangy High School boys soccer coach Dave Sebek, who guided the Braves to district finals each of the past two seasons, has stepped down.

"I feel like I don't have the time I need to devote to the program," said Sebek, who coached nine years at Olentangy and five at Ready before that. "I need to focus my priorities with my family."

Sebek guided Olentangy to an 8-10-2 overall record and seventh place (1-5-1) in the OCC-Cardinal Division last season. The Braves had a strong run in the Division I district tournament, defeating Grove City 2-0, New Albany 2-1 (6-5 in penalty kicks) and third-seeded Upper Arlington 2-1 before losing to Reynoldsburg 2-1 (6-5 in penalty kicks) in a district final.

In 2010, the Braves finished 12-4-3 overall, losing to DeSales 2-1 in overtime in a Division II district final. Also in 2010, Olentangy won its first league title since joining the OCC.

Sebek said he wanted to spend more time with his wife, Shannon, and daughters Hannah (11), Sydney (7) and Alexandra (6 months).

"I have two daughters who are playing soccer more and more," Sebek said. "I coach (Hannah with the Olentangy Classics U-11 travel team) now and hope to coach Sydney in the future. Coupled with that, we have a 6-month-old at home. I'm always on the go. I don't have the time … that (the program) needs.
