The Olentangy Liberty High School girls tennis team will have three entries in the Division I district tournament Friday, Oct. 12, and Saturday, Oct. 13, at Hilliard Davidson.
In a sectional held Oct. 4 and 6 at Upper Arlington, top-seeded Sydney Power defeated third-seeded Alexia Meyer 6-1, 6-2 in an all-Liberty singles final.
The top four finishers in singles and doubles advanced to district, where the top four in singles and doubles advance to the state tournament Oct. 19 at Ohio State and Oct. 20 at Davidson.
Power and Meyer will be joined at district by the doubles team of Olivia Groves and Anna Delaney. They lost a semifinal 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 to UA's Andi Smart and Beniva Ganther before winning the third-place match 6-3, 6-1 over Emily Merickel and Elizabeth Sullivan of Gahanna.
Also for the Patriots, Alicia DiMaccio lost to second-seeded Kiara Shaw of Gahanna 6-2, 6-2 in the first round. In doubles, Sonia Chhabria and Avivah Wang had a first-round bye then lost 6-3, 6-4 to Merickel and Sullivan.
Olentangy's Megan and Brianna Brdicka finished third in doubles in the Reynoldsburg sectional. They lost their semifinal 6-4, 6-4 to New Albany's Alyssa Seneviratne and Sydney Setnar then beat Melody Liu and Kelsie Weinstein of Pickerington North 6-2, 6-4.
The Braves' other doubles team of Sandhya Arya and Grace Cramer lost a district-qualifying match to top-seeded Cristina and Francesca DiLorenzo of New Albany 6-1, 6-0. In singles, Jackie Vouis lost in the second round and Pallavi Mannava and Elyssa Ackerman lost in the first round.
Orange also competed at Reynoldsburg. Jessica Phelps and Madison Wolfe reached a district-qualifying match in doubles before losing to Liu and Weinstein 6-4, 1-6, 7-5. Also in doubles, Karlee Greene and Kendra Hopeck lost to the Brdicka sisters 6-1, 6-1 in the second round.
Yoon Su Kim, Carly Vroom and Madison Riley all lost their singles openers.
