Orange boys team, Dove moving on to regional

The Olentangy Orange High School boys cross country team placed fifth to claim the final regional-qualifying spot from the 14-team Division I, district 1 meet Oct. 19 at Watkins Memorial.

Sophomore Brandon Morrow was 18th (17 minutes, 6.01 seconds) to lead the Pioneers (125), who finished behind Hilliard Davidson (29), New Albany (46), Thomas Worthington (94) and Pickerington North (112).

Freshman Brandon Lane (21st, 17:14.36) was next for Orange, followed by freshman Hunter Moore (25th, 17:27.5), junior Kyle Benecke (30th, 17:41.06), freshman Tommy Heiden (31st, 17:41.56), senior Cameron Flesch (38th, 17:51.76) and freshman Matt Hartzell (40th, 17:53.67).

The Pioneers will compete Saturday, Oct. 26, in the regional meet at Pickerington North. The top four teams and top 16 individuals advance to state Nov. 2 at National Trail Raceway.

The top five teams and top 20 individuals in the district 1 and 2 races advanced to regional. Advancing for the Orange girls was junior Anna Dove, who placed 17th (20:14.11) in district 2 as the Pioneers were ninth (212) of 14 teams behind champion Gahanna (39).

Sophomore Skylar Tucker (31st, 20:55.78) was next for Orange, followed by sophomore Lindsey Brandt (52nd, 21:40.8), sophomore Madison Clarkson (55th, 21:47.29), sophomore Hannah Dieker (60th, 22:00.44), senior Ann Howard (63rd, 22:12.78) and senior Allison Priest (81st, 23:44.18).

Liberty's Wiles wins district race

Liberty junior Claire Wiles won the district 2 girls race in 18:44.65, ahead of runner-up Kelsey Sandlin (18:56.35) of Gahanna.

Sophomore Claire Linn was 10th (19:56.65) for Liberty, which finished third (84) to advance to regional.

Junior Autumn Lowder (14th, 20:06.65) was next for the Patriots, followed by junior Trinity Wiles (27th, 20:37.33), senior Jessica Martz (32nd, 20:57.41), sophomore Shannon Kelly (35th, 21:02.63) and sophomore Caitlin McConaghy (46th, 21:21.44).

The boys team was second (55) of 16 teams in district 3 behind Lancaster (36) as the top six teams and top 24 individuals advanced to regional.

Liberty senior Andrew Johnston was second (15:56.04) behind Newark's Toby Hardwick (15:37.75).

Senior Josh Wojciechowski (sixth, 16:29.93) was next for the Patriots, followed by senior Chatham Anderson (13th, 16:55.06), sophomore Mitchell Towne (15th, 16:57.26), junior Cameron Lackey (19th, 17:09.07), senior Brad Wiemels (30th, 17:34.33) and junior Christian Myklebust (35th, 17:47.78).

At regional last season, the boys team placed third to advance to state and Claire Wiles was 13th in 19:22.83 to advance as an individual.

Olentangy boys move on to regional

The Olentangy boys finished third (99) in district 3 to advance to regional.

Junior Charles Rodeheffer (14th, 16:55.77) led the Braves, followed by senior Chase Benson (16th, 16:57.9), junior Jacob Darche (20th, 17:09.74), junior Tyler Azbell (22nd, 17:14.38), freshman Anthony Sasso (27th, 17:30.39), junior Daylan Sutton (36th, 17:48.27) and freshman Alex Garner (38th, 17:52.43).

The girls team finished eighth (182) of 17 teams behind champion Upper Arlington (64).

Freshman Camryn Stobart (27th, 20:31.15) led Olentangy, followed by freshman Chloe Murdock (36th, 20:55.49), sophomore Sarah Speck (38th, 20:59.36), freshman Ashton Benson (39th, 20:59.92), junior Logan Augustine (42nd, 21:02.84), freshman Katie King (53rd, 21:21.69) and freshman Ireland Fallona (64th, 22:04.6)
