The Patriots face off against the Pioneers at 8:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, at Chiller North. The teams met Jan. 12 in a packed Chiller North, with Liberty coming away with a 3-2 overtime victory.

Orange is 19-4-2-1 overall and 9-0-1-1 in the Capital Hockey Conference.

Liberty is 12-11-4 overall and 7-2-2 in the CHC, but the Patriots started 1-8 overall and 0-2 in the league. Since then, they have earned wins or ties in 15 of 18 games.

The Pioneers were ranked first in the district and seventh in the state behind top-ranked Cleveland St. Ignatius in last week's polls, while Liberty was fourth in the district.

Orange leads the CHC-Red Division with 20 points, with Liberty and Dublin Jerome (6-1-3-1) tied for second (16).

In the Orange Division championship game of the Pioneer Holiday Classic on Jan. 19 at Chiller North, host Orange defeated North Royalton 4-1.

The three-day event also featured games at Chiller Easton and Chiller Ice Works.

Karsten Green-Church, Jude Holston, Mark Murley and Hunter Shepherd all scored in the title game, and goaltender Cameron Beck had nine saves.

Orange also beat North Royalton 2-1 on Jan. 17 as goalie Kyle Jones had 13 saves and Luke Buchy and Josh Rochon both scored.

On Jan. 18, the Pioneers won 8-2 over Painesville Riverside and 6-0 over Mentor. Green-Church and Voytus both had two goals against Riverside, with Buchy, Cole Essig, Murley and Sean Murley scoring once and Beck making 19 saves.

Buchy had two goals against Mentor, with Essig, Holston, Mark Murley and Voytus all adding one goal and Jones making 11 saves.

On Jan. 20, Liberty defeated Hudson 2-1 in the championship game of the Ehrnfelt Memorial Tournament at Hoover Arena in Strongsville.

The Patriots opened the three-day event by defeating Hudson 2-1 and tying Strongs-ville at 3 on Jan. 18. Ethan Flemming and Corey Peck scored against Hudson and goalie Cam Perry had 27 saves.

Against Strongsville, Chris Bergamesca scored twice, Ryan Gratz scored once and Perry had 17 saves.

On Jan. 19, Liberty defeated Chagrin Falls Kenston 6-1 as Perry had 15 saves and Bergamesca, Andrew Bull, Cole Bumpass, Jimmy Bursinger, Peck and Daniel Rosenberg all scored.

Olentangy holds topspot in CHC-Blue

Olentangy improved to 12-13-2 overall by defeating Sylvania Southview 6-0 on Jan. 19 in the Blue Division fifth-place game of the Pioneer Classic.

In pool play, the Braves tied Centerville at 2 and lost to Springboro 4-1 and Southview 2-0.

Olentangy leads the CHC-Blue Division with 12 points (6-7), three points ahead of second-place Worthington Kilbourne (4-5-0-1).

In league competition, Dylan Ahonen has nine goals, Josh Seemann has seven, Austin Moore has six and Nathan Hershiser has four, while Brian Brown has six assists. Goalie Landon Diedrich has a .930 save percentage and goalie Ryan Dop has a .875 save percentage.
