To the editor:

ThisWeek Pickerington on July 9 carried a banner headline. I applaud the excellent coverage of the facts concerning the Pickerington Public Library's dire need for a 10-year operating levy of 0.75 mills in November.

This is the first request for local funding in 100 years, which is now necessary due to the economic situation. Some smaller libraries in Ohio have been forced to close.

The Pickerington Public Library is a valuable source of education for our children as well as a source of continuing education and pleasure for both adults and children. Our country is most fortunate to be able to provide these advantages for our future leadership.

As a former reference librarian from Springfield, Ohio, I highly recommend a yes vote in November on this vital issue.

Donations would be very helpful to this fundraising committee to promote the passage of this levy. Write to Robert Blair, Treasurer, Citizens for the Pickerington Library, 478 Milnor Road, Pickerington, Ohio 43147.
