Pickerington City Council will hold a special meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 28, to consider naming the city's police chief as interim city manager.

The meeting is scheduled for 8 p.m. at Pickerington City Hall, 100 Lockville Road.

If appointed, Chief Mike Taylor would at least temporarily replace Tim Hansley as city manager. Hansley was fired on Oct. 21 after four members of city council and Mayor Mitch O'Brien called for his dismissal.

Taylor, 51, has been with the Pickerington Police Department since 1983. He replaced former Chief John Fuller, now deceased, as chief in January 2003. Taylor couldn't be reached for comment on Tuesday, Oct. 27. It's unclear if he will retain his position as chief if appointed as interim city manager.
