I feel compelled to denounce the actions of the mayor and some city council members regarding the termination of Tim Hansley.

I agree with council President Jeff Fix, who was quoted as saying, "It's a huge mistake and very shortsighted." As a Violet Festival volunteer, I had many opportunities to work closely with Mr. Hansley and found his experience, knowledge and work ethic a tremendous asset.

The parents, players and families of the Ridgeview Junior High School football team would like to congratulate head coach Bill Hinterschied on his first undefeated season in eight years.

Additionally, accolades need also to be heaped on offensive coach Milt Folsom and first-year defensive coach Derrick Johnson. This year, this fine staff was able to lead almost 70 players to their first victory over rival Groveport since their head coach departed Pickerington to lead Groveport eight years ago. Other key season highlights include victories over OCC rivals Lancaster, Watkins and a season-ending blowout of Lakeview Junior High.

Coach Hinterschied and his staff are a great asset to our community and showed great leadership as they molded these young players. The Tigers coaching staff did a marvelous job balancing the needs of the team with the rigors of being a student. This staff always prioritized school, family, football in that order and still managed the football time efficiently enough to regularly include all players at all skill levels in this superb season.
