Charles Wash of Pickerington has been appointed to oversee the archives at the National Afro-American Museum and Cultural Center.
His position was made possible through an African American History and Culture Grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
Wash's responsibilities will include developing an archival management plan and train NAAMCC staff in processing and digitizing its collections. Public access will be expanded through online databases, including www.ohiomemory.org.
He previously served as gubernatorial records archivist at the Ohio Historical Center in Columbus.
Wash received both his master's and doctoral degrees from Howard University in Washington, D.C. He currently serves as an adjunct professor in the humanities department of Central State University.
